Adama Sunshine is a German-Ivorian Reggae musician, singer and songwriter.
Like all good and passionate Raggae singers, he has always had a sharp eye for global political injustices. Even as a child, he had a strong aversion to the arrogance of the ruling African politicians, who, as the years and decades went by, became increasingly out of touch with the people. Hoping to be less exposed to arbitrariness and madness outside the Ivory Coast, he fled to Germany.
In Hagen, his adopted home, Adama has been working as an offset printer for over 20 years. In parallel, he studied at the Max Reger Music School to develop his musical talent.
In 2007 he launched his career as a musician and songwriter and founded the „The Sunshine Reggae Band“.
Together with his daughters Kadija and Lindsey, Adama Sunshine released his first album „La Retraite Volée de mon Père“ in 2010 as „Adama and Kids“. – Their second album „Maman Kone Karidja“ followed in 2012.
Having developed his individual Raggae music style, Adama Sunshine released his first solo album „Rebel Man“ in 2016.
Perfectly in harmony with the African Raggae tradition, his cheerful and positive songs always convey messages of equality, justice, peace and love:
His lyrics address political and social injustices around the world – in four different languages: French, English, German and Dioula – and urge us to show more love and respect towards one another.
His latest album „Censure“ has been released in 2025. It is Adama Sunshine’s most personal album, as it involves an internal reassessment of French colonial history and the associated injustices suffered by the people of his homeland, the Ivory Coast.
